Paris Baguette

Hey all ~~

So today I happened to go down to Orchard and I finally got to try the much raved Paris Baguette in Singapore. No it isn't a French, but rather a Korean Cafe. The outlet that I went to was at Wisma Atria. The decor was pretty neat, I was there really early for other reasons and there wasn't a crowd. They didn't have much variety of cakes out yet so I took the pretty and recommended few =) I didn't find the prices steep, it was roughly the same pricing range from when I went there in Korea.

Right here it is, my Paris Baguette to go:

Paris BaguetteCAKES!!!

Oh~ my baby Crepe~Firstly we tackled their recommendation the "Oh~ my baby Crepe~" for S$7. Apparently this was a first choice order from the many people who visited there. It is a layered strawberry sponge cake with layers of crepe between each layer ( 0_0 repetition of layer! ) I wouldn't say it was very outstanding and all, but it was pretty light. I found it very hard to eat it prettily, cutting it made my tray really dirty. I hate that part of eating pastries or cakes, be it OCD or something, I find it really annoying to see my layers dropping all over the place. But it was slightly sweet, a really fun cute piece to share with your girlfriend or boyfriend in my opinion! =)

A teaspoon of sweet FreedomNext, my favourite - "A teaspoon of sweet Freedom" for S$7. I have to say that this is a really pretty piece, I totally love just staring at it and squealing. This is a cheesecake, and it is totally not heavy. The cake is really soft like cutting into a pudding, and it is so airy that it feels like it melts in your mouth. I would definitely recommend this cake. Though I would have to say the biscuits on top of the cream - which was pretty light as well, was such a let-down. It was salty, and I thought I was tasting potato chips, biscuit version.

Marron Mont Blanc"Marron Mont Blanc" was another recommended cake - S$8.50. Generally, I am not so hot on Mont Blancs, but my mother wanted to try it. As all Mont Blancs are, this is very sweet as well, the tart is almost the flaky type, the cream in this cake really too much for me to handle. I could only take a few bites out of it. But a plus point is that they have quite a generous serving of chestnuts inside of it. Other then it looking pretty to me, I wouldn't get this again. ( My family told me it looks like noodles on the top and wouldn't touch it =_=" )

Finally we got the "Royal pudding ( Mango )" for S$4.50. Well, Paris Baguette is well know for their Royal puddings and I have already tried their original version and the berry version already in Korea. They would recommend you to try their original version, and I would agree with them. The other two flavours aren't bad, just that I still prefer the original one to the rest. And their bottles are just too cute!!

Royal Pudding ( Mango )Royal Pudding two left are from Korea and the right on from Singapore!
Yup, so that's all for this review. I would go back to try their pastries and bread, or even their salads which looks too darn tempting. I'll take more photos when I eat there of the decor and more. Till then ...

The Ship

Hey there!

Today I went to The ship at Serangoon's NEX for lunch. The food there is pretty good, but quite filling for me, guess it was because we ordered the creamy spinach. So we had the set meal - Student prices ( value for money ). This set meal comes with the soup of the day, a main course, a drink, and a scoop of ice-cream.

Mushroom SoupBread and butter

First up was the really thick mushroom soup, totally the way I liked it, and as most places would serve, bread and butter for appetizers. Next up came the Creamy spinach which was cooked with white wine. I quite like the way they done up this dish, really creamy though, we got really full very quickly with eating the vegetables only, what a shame. A note to caution is that the creamy spinach has a really strong buttery taste - hence the creaminess.

Creamy Spinach

Basically, I had the Pork Chop set, which comes with fries and sautéed vegetables ( carrots and broccoli ) The pork for me was tender, though I heard from reviews that it was pretty tough. The negative portion would be that I wished that they had added more of the mushroom sauce for the meat, and don't just boil the vegetables soft - there's no nutrients and very bland. The fries were usual, nothing special.

Pork ChopFish and Chips

My companion had the fish 'n chips, it was quite good as well, pretty crispy, I didn't get to try the salad that came with it, but judging from reaction, I do not think it is fabulous. And Finally I had the Mango ice-cream which was really good after eating the creamy and fried food, a refreshing fruity taste in my mouth.

I do not have photos of the place, but they have quite a good ambience, we sat at the said which was really neat and cosy, though the lights were pretty dim over there. Overall, a great place to eat at =)

Late night Dinner

Hey, just another short post - no pictures.

Yesterday, I hung out with Penguin and we went for a movie at Junction8. Then after it was around 8+ p.m. going to 9p.m. And we haven't had a regular dinner yet, though we ate popcorn because I was starving before we rushed for the movie. So basically we shared the Korean set meal at the food court there which costs $6.90 i think. It was fish and chicken with rice and a bowl of soup ( and added rice =) ) I will have to say that it is really quite nice, love the fish. The rice is also really nice, it has this slightly salty taste that makes it good on it's own.

Penguin changed to become such a gentleman ( not that he wasn't sweet before, but it is different somehow ) this week. I kind of  hope it can keep up 。◕ ‿ ◕。 hehe. I am so happy ~ ! Penguin went external-DVD hunting today haha!

Well, that's all, got to continue with my work
