So today I happened to go down to Orchard and I finally got to try the much raved Paris Baguette in Singapore. No it isn't a French, but rather a Korean Cafe. The outlet that I went to was at Wisma Atria. The decor was pretty neat, I was there really early for other reasons and there wasn't a crowd. They didn't have much variety of cakes out yet so I took the pretty and recommended few =) I didn't find the prices steep, it was roughly the same pricing range from when I went there in Korea.
Right here it is, my Paris Baguette to go:
Firstly we tackled their recommendation the "Oh~ my baby Crepe~" for S$7. Apparently this was a first choice order from the many people who visited there. It is a layered strawberry sponge cake with layers of crepe between each layer ( 0_0 repetition of layer! ) I wouldn't say it was very outstanding and all, but it was pretty light. I found it very hard to eat it prettily, cutting it made my tray really dirty. I hate that part of eating pastries or cakes, be it OCD or something, I find it really annoying to see my layers dropping all over the place. But it was slightly sweet, a really fun cute piece to share with your girlfriend or boyfriend in my opinion! =)
Next, my favourite - "A teaspoon of sweet Freedom" for S$7. I have to say that this is a really pretty piece, I totally love just staring at it and squealing. This is a cheesecake, and it is totally not heavy. The cake is really soft like cutting into a pudding, and it is so airy that it feels like it melts in your mouth. I would definitely recommend this cake. Though I would have to say the biscuits on top of the cream - which was pretty light as well, was such a let-down. It was salty, and I thought I was tasting potato chips, biscuit version.
"Marron Mont Blanc" was another recommended cake - S$8.50. Generally, I am not so hot on Mont Blancs, but my mother wanted to try it. As all Mont Blancs are, this is very sweet as well, the tart is almost the flaky type, the cream in this cake really too much for me to handle. I could only take a few bites out of it. But a plus point is that they have quite a generous serving of chestnuts inside of it. Other then it looking pretty to me, I wouldn't get this again. ( My family told me it looks like noodles on the top and wouldn't touch it =_=" )
Finally we got the "Royal pudding ( Mango )" for S$4.50. Well, Paris Baguette is well know for their Royal puddings and I have already tried their original version and the berry version already in Korea. They would recommend you to try their original version, and I would agree with them. The other two flavours aren't bad, just that I still prefer the original one to the rest. And their bottles are just too cute!!
Yup, so that's all for this review. I would go back to try their pastries and bread, or even their salads which looks too darn tempting. I'll take more photos when I eat there of the decor and more. Till then ...
